Back in the old Heirborne days (JJ and
Shane's old band) the cool thing to do on Saturday's was to hang out at band
practice. After an afternoon of writing material, playing loud obnoxious heavy
metal, and getting the cops called on us, we'd all go out later on and do
something involving food, caffeine and movies. After the movie, we'd have more
food and even more caffeine. Just what every 15-18 year old needs at 1:00 in
the morning...COFFEE. Bad idea. If I recall, Shane met up with Brian at a
local convenience store and Brian just started hanging out at practices one
day. Eventually he moved up the ranks to be their head roadie and lighting
engineer. A year or so later, he was the drummer in a band, along with
Al, that still gives us
a little chuckle now and then
...the mighty Bloodpath <place sound of a lion roar
here>
He hates Country and Disco with a passion, but it's fun to watch him squirm if I pop in a Billy Ray Cyrus CD (yes, I do own one). He carries in his car to this day, a tape case full of quality 80's metal bands like Zebra and Bonfire. Even though he can growl, and did a good job of it at the haunted house, death metal isn't his favorite style of music. He prefers, in his words, "moshier" music. Recently he's gone off the deep end and is listening to Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, and POD. Trust me, if you knew Brian, you would consider that extremely bizarre. He's not exactly the most "Yo, let's staht thus mutha up...yeaahhhh" kind of guy. I'm sure he'll grow out of that phase soon enough, since he's in his 30's. Overall, a cool guy to hang out with and to discuss the more subtle aspects of Pink Floyd's, "The Wall". His favorite phrase is, "Dude...Dude...no really Dude...Dude..."
