The Honeymoon - The Stanley Hotel /
Estes Park, CO
(click pictures to enlarge)
We left late Saturday night and spent the next 12 hours or so on the road from Kansas City to Estes Park. This is the hotel that inspired Stephen King to write The Shining when he stayed in Room 217. It is a beautiful piece of history, with gorgeous accommodations, great restaurant, amazing view, and alleged paranormal activity. It is been featured on numerous travel and vacation type of shows as well as paranormal TV shows such as Ghost Hunters and Ghost Adventures. If you can swing the per night room rate of $200+ then I would highly recommend a stay at The Stanley Hotel. Just a heads up though, there is no A/C. It got pretty cool at night during our stay and had the window open. Perhaps a June or July visit would be a bit on the warm side during the day.
Nikki and I both took pictures. They may seem to be a bit repetitive but we were being touristy little shutterbugs and taking it all in. Enjoy!
